REBEL GIRL & MIss WORld

International Women’s Day Releases

March 8th, 2024

In celebration of International Women’s Day, we’ve created two beers using Pink Boots Canada’s annual hop blends. These hop blends support Pink Boots Canada’s mission of assisting, inspiring and encouraging women and non-binary individuals in the fermented/alcoholic beverage industry to advance their careers through education.

REBEL GIRL

MODERN SAISON, 5.7% ABV | WILD CAN: 006
Notes of: Yuzu, U-Pick Farm, Zippy

Made with the 2022 Pink Boots Hop Blend, this beer is a weird and wonderful blend of a juicy, hazy IPA and wild saison. Brewed for serious drinkability, this beer has light and bright acidity with a pillowy mouthfeel.

Malt: Hogarth Undermodified Pils, Chit, Vienna, and Red Shed Malting Malted Oats, Raw Wheat

Hops: Triskel, Aged 2008 Nugget Whole Leaf

Yeast: WY3724, native wild yeast from the peach skins

Label Photographer: Monika Deviat

Available for purchase only at the Establishment Brewing Company taproom and online store.

ABOUT THE WILD THINGS

Young, wild, and free-spirited, these slim cans are meant for immediate consumption by way of your hands, fridges, coolers, or backpacks—never cellars. They’re more elevated than the average can of beer, and a touch tamer than our bottles. To quote Goldilocks—or was it the Three Bears?—they’re jusssssst right.

Each label features a black and white image captured by a local photographer.

Rebel Girl features a photo by Monika Deviat.

MISS WORLD

MODERN LAGER, 5.4% ABV
Jasmine Tea, Strawberry Shortcake, Soft

Crisp and clean are the hallmarks of a good lager, but leave it to the minds of our International Women’s day brew crew to add a twist that leaves you reaching for more. This refreshing take on a classic traded the standard noble hops for the more modern 2023 Pink Boots Blend. The result is everything you love about the style, leveled-up with a fruit basket of aromas to create a lager unlike all others.

Malt: Hogarth Pilsner, Hogarth Malted Wheat, Hogarth Chit

Hops: Pink Boots 2023, Mosaic 702, New Zealand Cascade

Yeast: 34/70

REBEL GIRL: ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

MONIKA DEVIAT

Monika is an award-winning photographer, educator, and speaker based out of Alberta, Canada. Her photography career started in darkness with concert photography. She has travelled across North America and even on International Waters to shoot heavy metal shows and festivals. In 2015, Monika shifted from shooting stars on stage to stars in the sky. Night photography became Monika's favourite genre, and it goes hand in hand with her landscape and adventure images. She is driven to capture unique scenes that inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the wild places surrounding us. Recently, Monika won the Aurorae Category of Astronomy Photographer of the Year, the world's largest astrophotography competition put on by the Royal Museums Greenwich.

Photo Inspiration: “This image is my Milky Way hero shot. When I started in astrophotography I did not see myself represented - it's a very male-dominated genre, but I am glad to see that has been changing. I've always been the type of person to carve my own path and try anything that seems interesting, regardless of whether I fit in or not. Night photography is something I have become very passionate about, as well as helping to promote diversity in the genre.

There are very few people willing to go wandering out in the night on their own, let alone up a mountain. I'm lucky to have one friend, Becky, who is also a photographer and joins me on these adventures sometimes. But quite often I am by myself. This ridge is one of my favourites - it's a little narrow in spots, so you have to be careful, especially in the dark. After getting the images I wanted with the landscape, I decided to experiment with some self-portraits. The silhouette turned out strong but still feminine. It takes a lot of perseverance to get certain compositions and a lot of resilience to get all the gear up a mountain.”
