CURRENT PROJECTS

Have a photo that would be great for one of the beers below? Submit it using the application form. Photos can be curated specifically for this project or be a pre-existing photo from a portfolio or work.

  • This double release will be the first of it’s kind for our ‘Wild Things’ line. To match the complimentary nature of the beers, we’re looking for two photos that work together to feature on each label.

Photographers are welcome to submit a pair of photos to be used together or a singular photo that the EstBrew team will match with another submission.

    About the beers:

Color Coded: Wild Saison with Second-use Strawberries.
Notes: Aromatics of strawberry bushes from Grandpa's garden and drinks dry and crisp with a light pink hue

Watercolor Daydream: Wild Saison with Second-use Mixed Berries (Tayberries, Loganberries, Blueberries, and Raspberries)
Notes: This beer picked up a vibrant pink color and drinks similar to a piquette.

The base Saison recipe was created specifically to be put onto second-use fruit from the 2023 crop year, targeting a complex malt base (100% Hogarth malt, of course) and increased hop flavor and bitterness to combat acidity brought about by the fruit. The beers contrast one another beautifully and reflect the vast differences that can come from one minor process change.

Deadline for photo submissions is April 14, 2024.

  • Don’t see any active projects? Have a photo that you think we’d love but not sure which beer it would suit best? No worries! Submit your image using the button above and we’ll keep it in mind for upcoming releases.

  • Each year the women of the Establishment release a beer for International Women’s Day that celebrates women’s place in the industry (and beyond). The beer uses a special hop blend created by the Pink Boots Society. Pink Boots is an international organization that aims to assist, inspire and encourage women and non-binary individuals in the fermented/alcoholic beverage industry to advance their careers through education.

This International Women’s Day, we’ll be celebrating women in beer (and beyond) with the release of a very special beer from our ‘Wild Ones line’. This sleek can has been nurtured for over a year, developing its complex and nuanced character. It uses the 2023 Pink Boots hop blend alongside our house wild culture. Designed for serious drinkability, our sleek line maintains the beautiful mosaic of flavours of the mixed-culture beer you’ve come to know and love, but is meant to be enjoyed just like any other beer - at any time!

Please read the application guidelines for information on photo specifications, compensation, etc.

Deadline for photo submissions is February 14, 2024.

FEATURED Photographers

STEPHEN CHOW

Steve has been a friend and supporter of the brewery since before our doors opened. Although his face may be new to many, Steve’s kindness and talent is unknowingly familiar to most who have enjoyed an Establishment brew.

Behind countless shoots and far more late nights of editing, Steve has allowed our passion to shine through his lens. His work allows us to share the Establishment vision with those who also love to share good company over a good pint, just as we like to share one with him.

Our new Canned Wild Beers create a space for something that the Establishment crew has been dreaming of for a long time; the funk and character of mixed-culture beer with the ease of a can that can be pulled out of a backpack and cracked with friends on a warm summer day. To mark this introduction, we are honoured to feature one of Steve’s photos on the label of Chaise Longue.

ALYSSA ARNOLD

Alyssa is a professional photographer located in Winnipeg, but has always had the travel bug. She currently photographs using a mixture of digital and film cameras. She loves natural light and capturing stories. Alyssa’s goal is to leave people viewing her work with a lasting impression.

Photo Inspiration: “The story behind this photo in particular is that I was craving an adventure of any kind so I went out on a solo camping and hiking trip to Riding Mountain National Park. I hadn’t done something like this before by myself, so it really was outside of my comfort level. My hike was along a thin sandy pathway that separated two bodies of water, it opened up into a rocky beach area and that’s when I saw the butterfly. It had followed me around on the beach as I enjoyed the scenery and allowed me to get up close to it. Moments like that, shared with a butterfly made me realize how comforting nature can be when it knows you absolutely need it.”

Słavek Pytraczyk

Słavek Pytraczyk is a Polish-born multidisciplinary artist based in Calgary, Alberta. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Alberta University of the Arts. Recently, he contributed to The BLOX 1905 project, designing seven installations commemorating historical buildings in Calgary’s Beltline. As the upcoming artist for the Calgary City Centre Banner Project in 2024, Słavek continues to actively contribute to the public art scene as well. His latest passion lies in film photography, particularly multiple exposure techniques, which have garnered attention and secured him a spot in a group exhibition for Rome Art Week 2023, in Italy.

Photo Inspiration: “When I saw the call for Messing With the Settings, I immediately realized that the name had a direct correlation of how I would describe shooting images with my camera.

My current process involves combining multiple images on a single piece of film (multiple exposure), often stretching typical frame size and shooting out of focus. This process lends itself to let the viewers look more closely to to an image that treads the line of representation and abstraction. I’ve recently come across a quote, “…often times, the setting is more than the scene…”. My intent is to try and capture my surroundings by capturing elements of it rather than the scene itself.”
