IBU TOO: Beer & Cheese Tasting

IBU TOO: A social beer meet-up for racialized women

Did you know IBU (International Bitterness Unit) is a scale to measure the bitterness of a beer? If you didn’t, that’s okay! Beer can sometimes feel confusing and alienating, especially for people who don’t fit the stereotype of “beer drinker”. That’s why the Hop Forward Society is launching IBU TOO, a beer social group specifically for racialized/BIPOC women. Because no matter your knowledge, experience, or racial background, beer is for U Too.

Join us for the first meetup- a beer and cheese tasting here at the Establishment Brewing Company taproom on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 7pm - 9pm.

Come for the beer, stay for the social connection!

About the Hop Forward Society

The Hop Forward Society was founded by a group of community members and brewery owners in response to the murder of George Floyd and the global mobilization in support of Black Lives Matter. Our goal is to diversify the Alberta craft beer industry. We are a volunteer-driven, registered society, focused on reducing the barriers that exist within the craft beer industry. We work to provide information, education, and resources to businesses and community members, create and build opportunities for underrepresented groups within the craft beer industry, and help develop safe spaces for people to work, gather, and socialize.

Their mission is to empower underrepresented groups and create opportunities by eliminating barriers and advocating for inclusion, accessibility, and equity.
