Bright and ripe with aromas of mature mixed fruit, this spin on a popular style is super drinkable. For fans of hoppy funk, we’ve messed with IPAs’ factory settings to bring you this wild take. It’s got zesty notes of orange and grapefruit made all the more fragrant after mixing with our own house culture and wild microbes.

To achieve this finely balanced fruity acidity, we tried a little Tenderness (one of our previously released New England IPAs). We let Tenderness hang out with a single barrel of mixed culture golden sour for nine months, and let’s just say sparks flew and out came this beautiful baby. Aesthetically, it’s a deep orange and slightly opaque in the glass, perfect for sipping as a part of an autumnal sundown ritual.

Photo Inspiration: “When I saw the call for Messing With the Settings, I immediately realized that the name had a direct correlation of how I would describe shooting images with my camera.

My current process involves combining multiple images on a single piece of film (multiple exposure), often stretching typical frame size and shooting out of focus. This process lends itself to let the viewers look more closely to to an image that treads the line of representation and abstraction. I’ve recently come across a quote, “…often times, the setting is more than the scene…”. My intent is to try and capture my surroundings by capturing elements of it rather than the scene itself.”

BREWER’s NOTES

THE ESTABLISHMENT BREWER: Damon Mosier

“The concept behind the beer was to showcase the interaction of hops and wild yeast and bacteria and any flavors and aromas that are created during this process. To do so, we blended a single barrel of mixed culture golden sour equal parts with a previously released IPA (Tenderness) and allowed for the mixed culture to do its thing for 9 months. The result is a really fun beer that we decided is a good CANdidate (this joke never gets old around the brewery…) for our wild beers in sleek cans, due to its high level of drinkability and unique connection to a style that consumers are used to seeing in cans.”
